Our office is not only Mercury Free but also Mercury Safe.
Drilling out an amalgam filling generates a tremendous amount of heat, which causes a significant increase in the release of mercury, both as a vapor and in amalgam particles, during the entire removal process.
We follow the strictest level of protocols and use the latest, most effective tools to safely remove amalgam fillings, minimizing any potential for mercury exposure during the procedure. Once we’ve removed the filling, we follow a series of waste handling and disposal practices carefully designed to mitigate the introduction of mercury into public water supplies.
The safe removal protocol is approved by IAOMT and known as the SMART protocol.
